At the Vopak tank terminal, several pipe penetrations had insufficient space to install a conventional fire-resistant seal inside the sleeve. At the same time, the penetrations had to comply with the stringent requirements of the PGS 29 guideline, where protection against fire, water, and chemical exposure is essential for safe terminal operations. Tank terminals such as Vopak demand highly reliable and durable penetration sealing systems to ensure long-term operational safety.
For this project, the IBMO 3-in-1 Wrap Seal was selected. This innovative sealing solution has been specifically developed for situations where a traditional seal cannot be installed, for example when the pipe is positioned against the sleeve or when the available space has already been filled with sealant or packing materials. The Wrap Seal is simply wrapped around the pipe, allowing for quick and easy installation without compromising safety.
By using the IBMO 3-in-1 Wrap Seal, all pipe penetrations at Vopak have been completed safely and in full compliance with the applicable PGS 29 requirements. The solution combines fast installation with durable fire-, water-, and chemical-resistant sealing. As a result, the integrity of the installations is maintained, ensuring the long-term safety and operational reliability of the terminal.
