For the Shah Deniz project, pipe penetrations on offshore installations had to meet the highest standards for fire protection and compartmentalization. The penetrations through bulkheads and decks had to withstand harsh offshore conditions while effectively preventing the spread of fire, smoke, and hazardous gases. In addition, a durable sealing solution was required that could resist oil, chemicals, and the extreme environmental conditions encountered offshore.
For this project, the IBMO Flex Fire Seal was selected. This fire-resistant sealing system has been specifically developed for single and multiple pipe penetrations in the marine and offshore industry. The Flex Fire Seal has been tested in accordance with the IMO A.754(18) standard and is suitable for applications in both bulkheads and decks.
By using the IBMO Flex Fire Seal, the pipe penetrations on the Shah Deniz project fully comply with the stringent offshore fire safety and compartmentalization requirements. The solution preserves the integrity of bulkheads and decks while preventing the spread of fire, smoke, and hazardous gases. Thanks to its robust construction, simple installation, and excellent resistance to corrosion, oil, and chemicals, it provides a durable, low-maintenance solution for this critical offshore application.
