As part of the Pioneering Spirit project, a large number of cable penetrations through walls had to be sealed to provide reliable gas- and watertight protection. The penetrations varied in diameter and contained multiple cables within a single opening. The challenge was to create a dependable sealing solution capable of withstanding water pressure while offering the flexibility required for the different cable configurations.
For the cable penetrations, IBMO Pressure Seals were selected. Thanks to their modular design, multiple cables could be sealed safely and efficiently within a single penetration. The seals consist of rubber modules that fit precisely around the cables and are compressed within a stainless steel frame. This creates a durable gas- and watertight seal that is resistant to high water pressure, vibration, and structural settlement.
By using the IBMO Pressure Seals, all cable penetrations were sealed reliably and durably. The solution meets the required standards for gas and watertightness, operational reliability, and ease of maintenance. Thanks to the modular system, the various penetration configurations could be completed efficiently, contributing to the fast and high-quality execution of the project.
