IBMO advises the right watertight seal based on cable or pipe diameter, opening size, sleeve diameter and groundwater pressure. For high water pressure, a pressure seal is usually the best choice. For lower water exposure, Link-Seal or Uni-Seal seals can be suitable.

The IBMO Multiple Profile System (MPS) is a MED-certified sealing system tested in accordance with IMO Resolution A.754(18) for multiple cables and pipes through decks and bulkheads. The MPS is available for A-0 and A-60 classified penetrations. For single and multiple pipe penetrations, IBMO supplies Flex Fire Seals for A-0, H-0, J-90 and J-120 applications.

The required classification depends on the deck or bulkhead type, fire zone and possible fire scenario. The IBMO MPS system has been tested in accordance with IMO Resolution A.754(18) and is MED-certified for A-0 and A-60 classifications. Not automatically. Fire resistance, watertightness and gastightness are separate performance characteristics that must be demonstrated through testing. IBMO sealing systems can combine these properties, providing protection against fire, water and gas on ships, FPSOs and offshore platforms.

Select a sealing system with a minimum number of components and no time-consuming peeling of layers. The IBMO MPS system requires only one profile type, regardless of the cable or pipe diameter. No layers need to be peeled, reducing installation time and preventing errors caused by incorrect peeling.

An engineer requires the deck or bulkhead type, opening dimensions, number of cables and pipes, and required fire, water and gas-tightness ratings. The MPS system requires only one profile type, regardless of the cable or pipe diameter. The MED or Type Approval certificate, approved configurations, insulation requirements and installation instructions must also be checked.

The IBMO Fire Resistant Box is specifically designed for fire-rated cable penetrations in data centers, tested to EN 1366-3 and rated up to EI120 (120 minutes) of fire resistance, for duct sizes from 60 to 1000mm. The duct doesn't need to be coupled to separate boxes: it can simply run through the wall or floor or stop in front of it. Available in round and square versions, for both floors and walls.

The IBMO Fire Resistant Box allows extra cables to be added easily without affecting the EI120 fire resistance. Nothing needs to be broken or cut open, and no repair work is required, unlike sealant or foam solutions.

IBMO supplies tested firestop systems for cables, pipes and cable trays passing through fire-rated walls and floors. Typical applications include substations, power plants, tunnels, traffic control centres, car parks and other critical infrastructure.
